Exclusive: Benny Marchant picks his top five rock songs

Benny Marchant is a dynamic young singer-songwriter who has entrenched himself the Los Angeles music scene with a sophisticated, contemporary vibe that speaks to young and old alike about love, loss, journey and victory.

Marchant’s musical journey began in 2003 after graduating with a music degree from Washington College in Chestertown Maryland. Benny’s college band (then called NRG) recorded and played to great audience appeal in the Washington DC area. Following his instincts and seeking more depth and perspective in his song writing, Marchant packed his well-worn SUV and headed for Nashville to listen, learn and craft his songwriter’s passion.

After three years and scores of new songs, he packed up again and headed for Los Angeles where his song writing and performing skills gelled together as he formed the alternative rock band, The Kings Royal, which played every major club in LA, peaking with residencies at both the Viper Room and the Whiskey A Go-Go.

The Kings Royal features Benny Marchant (vocals and guitar) alongside Candlebox members Sean Hennesy (lead guitar), Adam Kury (bass guitar) and former Candlebox member Dave Krusen (drums).
