I Have Discovered: Try This At Home

Forming in early 2010 in the city of Glasgow, Scotland, Try This At Home are a perfect fusion of pop-punk meets synthesisers, and as drummer Dave puts it, “It’s music you can dance to!”.

The 4 piece is comprised of Ross (vocals, guitar and synth), Ryan (guitar and vocals), Johnny (bass and vocals) and Dave (drums). One thing that’s even more impressive about this band, Ross is only 16 and Ryan is only 17! Talk about doing the dream young!

The band have cited some of the biggest names in pop-punk as their main influences, the likes of Blink 182 and All Time Low ranking high, but drummer Dave says that its really just anything that inspires them!

The band have only played ten gigs in there short history but they have played with some big names so far, Canterbury, Not Advised and Twenty Twenty as well as playing a full day event at the O2 ABC where they played alongside the likes of Flood of Red and Rolo Tomassi.

The band have recently been announced to be joining the BBC Introducing system which means this time next year I could be writing a piece on them playing Reading and Leeds! If you see them announced, you know who to vote for!

Having written their first EP in under one week and recorded in just one day, the band managed to sell all fifty copies that they pressed and are currently in the process of writing EP number two, this time taking a lot more time than before!

Try This At Home are currently just doing the Scottish touring circuit but buy the albums, support the band and I’m sure they’ll try to get your way as soon as possible!

Current TTAH tour dates:

9th September 2010 – Ivory Blacks, Glasgow – Landon EP Launch
15th September 2010 – The GRV, Edinburgh – The After Party, A Day Overdue, Try This At Home
