Album recommendation: Baroness – “Blue Record”

Blue Record” is the utterly compelling, mesmerising second album from progressive metal maestros Baroness.

Released on October 12, 2009, the follow-up to 2007’sRed Album” is a relentlessly powerful beast of an album which explores a remarkably vast range of musical ideas and concepts that most bands of this style would struggle to replicate.

A record with so many unexpected twists and turns that is sure to leave any true fan of rock music gasping for breath, “Blue Record” really is a strong contender for album of the year.

If you’re a fan of Mastodon, High On Fire, Queens of the Stone Age or even Fleet Foxes, then Baroness are destined to become one of your new favourite bands.

“Everything about ‘Blue Record’ sounds larger than life.” – Rock Sound (9/10).
