Music Monday Band Recommendations – 7th December 2009

This week I took a different direction for my recommendations and called upon

I looked at who they were recommending to me and looked at some of the bands who were not striking listener numbers above 500.

So while I looked to discover over a variation of sub genres, helping you to discover also, enjoy!

Band 1

Band: Echoes The Fall
Check out the album: Bloodline

Formed in 2005 by brothers Mitch and Mike Gable, ETF started writing songs and released their first demo entitled “Someday Soon E.P.”. Fan response was quickly overwhelming, making ETF a Phoenix favourite.

Over the past 4 years EFT has developed a storied live performance history appearing with rock headliners such as Skillet, Seventh Day Slumber, Project 86, Pillar, Kutless, Decyfer Down, RED, Brian “Head” Welch, and many more.

Band 2

Band: In The Absence
Check out the album: Avenues With Anatomies

The individual styles and backgrounds of In the Absence compliment and comprised the overall sound and attitude band.

The style is affecting with its blend of metal, Rock, and Experimental.

The members do not consider themselves to be indecisive about their style, but rather fortunate to have the ability to cross-genre and create such a distinct tenor of post-hardcore riffs and affable melodies.

Band 3

Band: Fallzone
Check out the album: Stronger

Jon Santos, former singer of Seven Wiser released his first major label album in 04’ under Wind Up Records. Not a stranger to touring, Jon has toured and opened for Avril Lavigne, Bowling For Soup, Shinedown, Saliva, BB Mac, Mya, Amber, Nine Days, Firehouse, Sebastian Bach, SR-71 & Yngwie Malmsteen.

Still living in New York, Jon has now formed his new group Fallzone with New Jersey natives Bill Lau (guitars), Jerry Keating (drums), Rob Ellis (Bass).

Jon spent the better part of the last 2 years working on the music for this Fallzone release “Stronger” with Bill. Due to the lack of money in today’s economy Jon took on the producer, mixer and mastering roll for this album using friends’ basements, living rooms with his home studio gear & car at times for vocals on his portable pro tools.

Stronger shows a wide collection of music from A/C Radio to Harder Pop Rock.

Band 4

Band: The Third Age
Check out the EP: The Third Age

Thomas Roark-vocals
David Shirley – guitar
Brandon Hensley – drums
Niles Clendenon – bass
Sam Gajardo – Keys

Progressively modernized, haunting and melodic rock. Inspired by the raw sounds of metal, powerful oddities considered by some to be a rhythmically timeless aggregation of mind.

Band 5

Band: Cry To The Blind
Check out the album: From Conflict To Clarity

Cry to the Blind is an alternative metal band from Rochester, NY.

Cry to the Blind has performed with the following national acts: 3 Doors Down, 10 Years, Atreyu, Candlebox, Chevelle, Egypt Central, In This Moment, Papa Roach, RED, Sick Puppies, Since October, Sevendust, Street Sweeper Social Club.

They have also won the Heineken Unsigned Talent Competition in Rochester in 2006, been the Artist of the Week on XM Satellite Radio in 2007, and performed on the Vans Warped Tour in 2008.

Their music video, “Angerfly,” was the #1 viewed song on Time Warner Cable’s Radio TV Channel 111.

Cry to the Blind’s songs share common themes of the problems of everyday life and frustration; dark themes such as depression, hopelessness, anxiety, as well as the warmer themes of love and redemption, pervade their music. Cry to the Blind focuses on the emotions of their songs, and of their live performances. They aim to be an inspiration “to anyone who may be lost” as they put it on their MySpace page.

Note: All bio’s are taken from sources to the bands.
