Avenged Sevenfold Return To Live Scene

American rockers Avenged Sevenfold have announced their first live appearance since the death of drummer Jimmy ‘The Rev’ Sullivan in late 2009.

They will be appearing at the Heavy Mtl Festival in Quebec, Canada on the 25th July this year. Does this make them a major shout for this year’s Sonisphere Festival?

No information has been given about who will drum for the band but they are currently in the studio with Dream Theater drummer Mike Portnoy working on the follow up to 2007’s self-titled album, which was written when The Rev was still alive.

  1. I don’t know if I should be happy, sad, angry, relieved, or just plain confused about these news. To me , a7x is nothing without Jimmy, but they’re still the best without him. It’s contradictory , but it’s kinda true in my opinion… God is it what Jimmy would want? I think so, although even though he would, I hardly would. It’s time to move on , with a few stitches on our hearts, leaving partially open a bleeding that will never stop. R.i.P Jimmy , you deserve the best afterlife </3

  2. I don’t think this decision will have been taken lightly.

Firstly I think they wanted to show the world the masterpiece that Jimmy created with the new album and what better way to do that than play some live shows to support it. Yes Jimmy won’t be there to play the songs but if Mike Portnoy is taking his place then thats Jimmy’s all time favourite drummer. I’m sure A7X have done what they think is right.
