Coheed and Cambria part ways with drummer

Coheed and Cambria have announced that they have parted ways with drummer Chris Pennie in a short statement on Facebook which reads: “Tough decisions were made today that will help shape this band for the coming years. We extend our deepest appreciation to Chris Pennie for an incredible journey.”

Chris was a co-founder of The Dillinger Escape Plan in 1997 and left ten years later in 2007. Chris started to work in the studio with Coheed And Cambria and wrote the drum parts for their 2007 album ‘Good Apollo, I’m Burning Star IV, Volume Two: No World for Tomorrow’. Due to contract issues Chris could not perform the drums parts he had written and the band called upon Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins to record his parts. Soon after the band announced he was a permanent member.

His departure is the second for the band this year after they fired bassist Michael Todd after he was arrested for armed robbery.
