Danger Is My Middle Name to release EP on 10th August

A favorite among Midwest rock fans, Chicago’s Danger Is My Middle Name will be self-releasing its Giant Killer EP on August 10.

With a rabid fan base in cities such as Minneapolis, Iowa City, Milwaukee, Grand Rapids, Dayton, St. Louis, and Northwest Indiana, the band has managed to win over audiences on the strength of its no-nonsense, classic pop-punk hooks and quirky, original riffs, so much so that the band has more than 60,000 digital downloads, and has delivered breakout performances at Warped Tour, SXSW, Milwaukee’s Summerfest, Florida Music Festival, and other tours across the country.

To stand out among the post-pop-punk excesses of the Chicago music scene, Craig Miller was told every band needs a great story. But Danger Is My Middle Name is not about concocting a story or relying on any gimmick. Instead, the band’s “story” is of like-minded musicians meeting, writing together and playing together, and it worked. The lack of artifice suits the members of Danger Is My Middle Name (vocalist/guitarist Gabe Atkins, bassist Craig Miller, guitarist William Cox) just fine.

“This record is a reflection of where we’re at in life and where we are as a band… a little more grown up, and a little more fun,” singer Gabe Atkins explains.

“Giant Killer in my opinion is our most powerful record yet,” guitarist William Cox adds. “The lyrics are a lot deeper than our previous records. There’s a rush of energy throughout all the tracks.”

The band’s new single “Here We Go” features guest vocals from Kevin Truckenmiller from Quietdrive, as well as Jake Scherer from New Medicine.

Going back to 2007, Danger’s Revenge On The Radio EP hit Chicago like a hurricane and rapidly destroyed college radio play lists and major market stations like Q101 Chicago, KRQ Tucson and 107.7 The End in Seattle with its popular title track. Alternative Press Magazine, PureVolume.com and iSound.com reviewed and featured the EP.

In July 2009, the band recorded its highly anticipated follow-up EP Sink Or Swim with producer Marc McClusky (Farewell, Hit The Lights, Ludo) receiving positive press from AbsolutePunk.net, FriendsOrEnemies.com, iSound.com, and Buzznet.com. A featured CD on PureVolume.com, it was downloaded over 5,000 times during a free, week-long pre-release. Even today, Sink Or Swim commands a place in the Top 100 Unsigned Band release on SmartPunk.com.

With the release of Giant Killer, the band is primed to helm the resurgence of competent songwriting and inspiring on-stage dynamics that proudly don’t involve laptops to connect with fans.

“I think that our new EP Giant Killer is the first batch of songs we have put out that really captures the energy of a Danger Is My Middle Name show,” bassist Craig Miller declares.

Unsung underdogs of the Windy City, watch and listen as the Danger Is My Middle Name story continues to unfold.
