Echovalve call it a day

Echovalve have posted a blog update to inform fans that they are no longer a band due to the cost of keeping the band going. They do state that they could be back if they are able to record a planned three-track EP to pass on to labels.

Its clear that something has been amiss.  I will not sit here and glorify any of this because frankly, we are in NO position to make any kind of headlines not to mention, on a personal level, this is tearing me up too much to dwell on it in a blog.  Ill get to it now.

The bottom line is that we have been beating up the pavement, the clubs, the RV, and ourselves for a long time.  I helped start this band over 6 years ago and it has been my life.  I, as well as Ryan and Mat, have put everything we had into this every single time we hit the stage, booked a show, or simply passed out CDs to promote.  The fact of the matter is, the ONLY reward we saw from all the hard work (and killer music in my opinion) was the love and support from all of you.  After touring for the better part of 6 years, and seeing zero financial kickback, the train has stopped.  Ryan and Mat have children to support and this is simply NOT doing the job.  Its a very difficult and heartbreaking place for us to be.  There is NO choice anymore.  Period.

Things have been set in motion with some people in the biz and we must now sit and wait.  If the opportunity comes along, and that is a HUGE “if,” we will re-assess at that time.  We all love this band so much and we will keep that small shred of hope for something to come our way.  Aside from the possibility of us recording another 3 song EP strictly for the purpose of shopping to labels again, and barring any miraculous turn of events, we are done. We will not even be able to do what was potentially our farewell tour.  We OWE all of you those shows but, there is absolutely nothing we can do anymore.  I am so sorry for that, I truly am.

For now, I have to say thank you to all of you who, over the years, came to shows, bought merchandise, told a friend about us, helped us when we were down, took pictures, tattooed us on your body, voted for us in competitions, put money up to keep us alive, sang your heart out in the privacy of your bedroom while listening to us, and most of all…thank you to all of you that we now call “friends.”  We had a lot of fun, and no matter how hard it got, we always gave you everything we had.  I hope that we have at least left an impression on all of you that you will never forget.  We will miss you guys so much…Please, keep our music alive!  Don’t forget ECHOVALVE.

…one more thing.  I would be doing myself a disservice if I didn’t let you all know that I am currently working on a new band, as well as a solo project.  Although a little different,  I will continue to give you great music and I will be on the road again soon…I would love to have your support.  Any questions/comments regarding that, find me here:  www.myspace.com/jaylangston

Thank you for your time, your love, and your support….always.
