Helloween announce UK release of 7 Sinners

Helloween, the German outfit who have been proudly flying the flag for ‘melodic speed metal’ since first coming together in 1984, will have a brand new studio album released on November 1st 2010 via Spinefarm Records UK – the first time this UK label & band have worked together.

Titled ‘7 Sinners’ and produced by longstanding collaborator Charlie Bauerfeind, this 13-track release is one of the hardest / fastest in the band’s recording history (now 13 albums and five million sales deep), yet also one of the most relaxing to make… ?

Put together at ‘Mi Sueno Studios’ in Tenerife, even a  power cut that destroyed a whole variety of gear couldn’t undermine the essentially positive mood – a mood that saw the musicians creating an album that, in the great Helloween tradition, isn’t afraid to crack a smile and give its wings an impressively broad stretch when the moment allows.

Unusually for a set of songs delivered, in the main, at a gallop rather than a trot, Helloween (specifically drummer Loble) chose to record without the use of a ‘click track’, which makes for a live, more organic feel overall, plus the sort of swagger so important to tracks such as ‘Long Live The King’, ‘Where The Sinners Go’, ‘If A Mountain Could Talk’ and ‘Are You Metal?’, the aforementioned single/video, out now.

As for the album’s overriding theme, well, the title gives the nod to that – the seven deadly sins in all of their glory, with ‘Who Is Mr. Madman?’ (a Gerstner composition featuring Saxon stalwart Biff Byford on spoken intro) acting as the natural successor to ‘Perfect Gentleman’ from 1994’s ‘Master Of The Rings’ album.

In support of ‘7 Sinners’, ‘Helloween’ will be playing the following shows in the UK:

December 4th – Hard Rock Hell, Prestatyn
December 5th – HMV Forum, London
