Hoobastank cover Ghostbusters theme

Currently in the studio recording an acoustic album, Hoobastank took a bit of time out for Halloween to record a special cover and music video for everyone.

Posted on the bands MySpace:

We’ve been touring now for almost a decade and those who are fans know that although we take our music very seriously we don’t take ourselves very seriously. We’ve always loved goofing around on and off the stage.

One thing we’ve been doing for years now is to cover iconic songs from the past during our shows to test the crowd’s musical knowledge and to get everyone loosened up and singing along a little. Everything from the theme songs to Rocky and the tv show CHIPS to Pink Floyd’s “The Wall” and Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believin'”. Song’s we pretty much know everyone will know.

Recently on our last Japan/Southeast Asia/Australia tour this summer we were brainstorming for some new songs to unleash on the people. One of them happened to be Ray Parker Jr’s Ghostbusters. We played our own shortened version of it at a few shows and the crowds went BERZERK! Seriously it was so funny that half the time I couldn’t hold it together and would laugh in mid verse.

So seeing the crowd’s reaction to the song and it being so close to Halloween we decided to record it for fun at Chris, our drummer’s home studio. We had a lot of fun recording it and we hope everyone has fun listening to it. Happy Halloween from Hoobastank. Who ya gonna call?
