Malefice recruit new drummer

British metallers Malefice have confirmed that drummer Chris Allan-Whyte has joined the band. He replaces Craig Thomas, who departed earlier this week after the band’s performance at the New England Metal and Hardcore Festival.

Vocalist Dale Butler posted the following statement on Malefice’s MySpace page:

Malefice and Craig have been growing apart musically for some time, and therefore we all decided it was a good time for everyone to move on. We all want to thank him for his years of dedication, we’ll never forget the good times we had and we wish him luck in his new chosen direction!

Chris had the job as soon as he started playing. He was our last audition and we could tell looking around the room at the smiles on each other’s faces, that the whole band was convinced we had found our man. He’s brought new venom to our sound, and we’re really enjoying playing our music with the fresh vigour and perspective that he brings! We all know Chris from his previous band Shy of the Depth, who we toured with a few years ago, so on a professional and a personal level, we’re ready to get out on the road from May, with the new line up and kick some fucking heads in! See you in the pit!

Allan-Whyte will play his first shows with Malefice on the band’s forthcoming UK tour. The dates are as follows:

May 19, 2010: Dexters, Dundee

May 20, 2010: Crown, Middlesbrough

May 21, 2010: Rios, Leeds

May 22, 2010: Underworld, London

May 23, 2010: Barfly, Cardiff

May 24, 2010: Central Station, Wrexham

May 25, 2010: Hector’s House, Brighton

May 28, 2010: Champions, Bournemouth

May 29, 2010: White Rabbit, Plymouth

May 30, 2010: Cavern, Exeter.
