Matt Tuck forms AxeWound with Cancer Bats vocalist and members of Rise To Remain, Glamour Of The Kill and Pitchshifter

Matt Tuck’s new “supergroup,” AxeWound, has finally been revealed as they made their announcement in the early hours of this morning and debuted their first track ‘Post Apocalyptic Party.’ The band features Matt Tuck (Bullet For My Valentine) on guitar and vocals with Liam Cormier (Cancer Bats) on lead vocals, Jason Bowld (Pitchshifter) on drums, Mike Kingswood (Glamour Of The Kill) on guitar and Joe Copcutt (Rise to Remain) on bass.

The first news of this band came in October 2011 when Matt revealed that he was hoping to have a four-piece band together to do something that would sound similar to Slipknot’s ‘Iowa’ or Pantera. He went on to say that Bullet For My Valentine was a business and that the band had a formula which they couldn’t stray from so this allowed him to step out of his comfort zone and do something different.

With their announcement, Download Festival has confirmed that they will perform on the third stage on the Friday, 8th June, directly under stage headliner Devin Townsend. Liam will also be performing on the main stage that day with Cancer Bats.
