New Years Day working on sophomore release

Anaheim’s New Years Day is taking its blend of grrrl power rock on the road this summer as part of the Van Warped Tour thanks in part to tour founder Kevin Lyman’s personal invitation. Currently working on its full length sophomore release, the band will be on the summer juggernaut trek from June 27 to July 8.

Formed after bad breakups for some of its band members, including fiery front woman Ash, early supporters of New Years Day included Fall Out Boy’s Patrick Stump and Motion City Soundtrack’s Justin Pierre who later collaborated on the track “Brilliant Lies.”

Even tastemaker publication Alternative Press heralded the band’s “blend of girl-power vocals and dark pop-song structures,” and gave a heads-up to the record industry, noting: “We’d advise A&R reps to start booking flights, like, now.”

Currently, singer Ash is pulling double duty writing as a Fashion Correspondent for Ragged Magazine while on Warped Tour. Her column will be posted at the following sites:

Another supporter of the band’s, Fuse TV has selected NYD as a buzz artist for its Warped Tour special and will showcase the band on Fuse.com and Fuse TV.

New Years Day will also be doing a series of autograph signings at the Music Saves Lives booth on select dates. Be sure to stop by and meet the band in the following cities:
