NFL urged to remove The Who

The NFL has been urged by a child welfare organisation to remove The Who as the headline performers from this year’s Super Bowl halftime show.

The organisation has objected to guitarist Pete Townshend performing due to an arrest in 2003 which related to accessing child pornography although he was cleared by police as he was researching for a project based on child abuse.

At the time Pete Townshend admitted he used his credit card in order to access a website and received a caution and was placed on the Sex Offenders Register for five years.

Although the organisation is strongly protesting to have Townshend and The Who removed, the NFL has stated that the band will perform at the half time at the Super Bowl.
