Riots, stabbings and arrests at Metallica concert – with video

It was the first live performance from Metallica in Colombia for 11 years and it’s safe to say it will be their very last.

When the gig was announced, Colombian Police officials prepared for a night of trouble by placing over 1500 police officers at the venue with trucks and reportedly four tanks!

Fans who were unable to purchase tickets used social networking websites such as MySpace and Facebook to unite individuals like themselves, ticketless, to storm the performance and try force their way in to see the band perform in front of 30,000 people.

The riots which took place outside the venue last 45 minutes with 8 people injured, 3 of those with stab wounds, including police officers. Over 160 arrests were made as public and also private property was several damaged.

The concert was not disturbed by the events outside therefore fans were still able to enjoy the performance, only to witness the destruction after the final encore.
