Rise Against video nominated for MTV’s Video With A Message

Rise Against’s latest video for “Make It Stop (September’s Children)” has been nominated for MTV’s first-ever pro-social category “Best Video with a Message” at the MTV Video Music Awards. The band joined forces with the It Gets Better Project to help bring awareness to homophobia sending the message to viewers that bullying and harassment in the LGBT teen community needs to stop and suicide is not the answer. The band posted a statement reacting to the nomination from MTV stating:

“Hey all, seems MTV has nominated us for a VMA (Best Video With A Message), which is a first for us here in the Rise Against camp. “Make It Stop (September’s Children)” is an important song and video for us, so if your vote helps us all pour water on the fire of homophobia, then we are all for it. Thanks again to director Marc Klasfed and the It Gets Better Project, click here to vote !” http://www.mtv.com/ontv/vma/2011/best-video-with-a-message/.

Rise Against is joined by other iconic pop stars nominated including Lady Gaga, P!nk, Katy Perry, Eminem featuring Rihanna, and Taylor Swift. Viewers can vote for the “Best Video with a Message” now online or at m.mtv.com on their mobile phone through August 16th. The “2011 MTV Video Music Awards” will air live from Nokia Theatre L.A. Live on Los Angeles on Sunday, August 28th, 2011 at 9PM (Live ET/Tape delayed PT).
