Sonisphere get ready for the most fun you’ve ever had in three days
With just one week left to go until the most awesome rock event of the summer, and the line up now complete – chock full of awesome bands, DJs and comedy – Sonisphere prepares the party with details of other exciting entertainment on offer.
Rock Karaoke returns to Sonisphere in 2011. Last year people all over the festival, including the queue on the way in, found themselves “entertaining” others with the help of pop-up karaoke maestro Christian from Alternative Karaoke. This year he will be back so keep your eyes peeled and your wits about you. Thursday night is the main karaoke night so before the stages fill up with your rock gods, get yourself a go on Bohemia stage between 5pm and 8pm and again between 10pm and midnight to flex your vocal chords or be entertained by fellow Sonispherians giving it their best shot.
If you feel your performance is more at home in the Camden Underground rather than the O2 Arena, then you might want to stop by the brand new pub stage in the Bohemia bar on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights where Christian will be holding more intimate karaoke parties. Have a look at the Alternative Karaoke website to get a flavour of the tunes he carries so you can start practicing now. www.alternativekaraoke.com
Also appearing in the Bohemia bar will be Sonisphere’s esteemed friend Lord Sinclair who will be onsite at Knebworth to bring his own brand of heavy metal bingo to the pub stage on Saturday from 3pm. For the last 8 years Lord Sinclair has taken balls, swearing, & prizes to festivals all over the world, with what Time Out have described as a “remarkably foul mouthed” take on the game. Aside from the immense fun that the metallic themed bingo will provide, there will be some fantastic, exclusive prizes on offer, with tickets to Sonisphere 2012 for those who earn a full house.
As many people know, the best spectator sport in the world is the Silent Disco and this year we are again hosting hours and hours of weirdly quiet air punching rock and metal anthems. Whether you like to just watch it or throw yourself around with headphones on, get yourself to the Bohemia Stage Tent on Thursday from midnight to 3am and in the Red Bull Tent on Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 11pm till 2am
If that’s not enough, there’s also a bunch of bangin’ late-night DJ sets to look forward to in Bohemia, with A1 Bassline and Fold providing Friday night’s entertainment, Tek-One and Innerpartysystem getting the party going on Saturday and a final mash-up on the Sunday courtesy of Stan SB and Alfie.
Sonisphere 2011 will also see the advent of the Sonisphere Rock Quiz. Taking place at the Bohemia Bar from midday on the Sunday, teams can enter to win prizes. Hosted by Lord Sinclair and Team Sonisphere’s own legend Doktored (aka Twitter Dude or David Hairyson), the quiz will be a perfect way to start your Sunday afternoon. Team numbers will be limited so get to the info tent (in its new location by the Bohemia bar) by 6pm on Saturday to register your team.
Bohemia bar will also be hosting the The Curse of the Bohemia Bar Comedy Show with Stephen Hill, Mark Garnell and a load of their friends. These comedians have been booked because they love to work with a pub crowd so, if you like being in a pub crowd, get down to the Bohemia bar from 10pm till Midnight on Thursday and 5pm till 7pm on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Finally, the cinema screen this year will be showing footage from Sonisphere 2010 so will be the perfect place to relive those memories or see what you missed by being somewhere less incredible on that weekend last year. This will be shown on the Saturn screen from midnight on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Sonisphere Knebworth takes place 8th – 10th July 2011 at Knebworth House. For tickets and more info go to www.sonispherefestivals.com
