The Offspring bassist comments on new album
Greg Kriesel, bassist and backing vocalist for The Offspring has announced in a recent interview that their new album is still in its “demo stage” but they are “getting close” to being ready to take it to the studio.
When asked what fans could expect from the upcoming album, Kriesel said that–similar to The Offspring’s past CDs–there probably won’t be any collaborations with other artists, as the band feels that a lot of times collaborations “seem forced.” What fans can expect, though, is another rockin’ CD from one of the industry’s most successful punk rock groups–if you can still call them that.
“I guess I just think of us as a rock band now, although we’re still coming from the same theme we came from, so I guess we’re still the same,” Kriesel replied when asked if he still considers The Offspring punk rock given the band’s mainstream success. “Punk rock is so different today, though; now it’s much more commercial whereas before punk rock was really underground.”
