The Sleeping Release New Album

The shores of Long Island, NY have been known for producing some of the most influential names in rock. Taking Back Sunday, Brand New and many others have been born into notoriety out of that scene.  Just as it looked like all hope was lost and every band was becoming faded carbon copies of one another, The Sleeping came along and shook things up by putting sincerity and originality back into underground rock.

After self-releasing their first full length album ‘Believe What We Tell You’ (OneDaySavior, 2004), Chicago’s Victory Records immediately took notice of the band and their ever growing fan base and hard work ethic. Shortly thereafter, the label signed The Sleeping to its roster.  Since 2004, the band has released two other albums (Questions And Answers & What It Takes) and solidified themselves as one of the hardest working tour acts performing with everyone from A Day To Remember, Hollywood Undead, Atreyu, Taking Back Sunday, Saosin, Reliant K, Plain White T’s, Senses Fail, Hawthorne Heights and countless others.

Today, September 28th, the band will release their fourth album, ‘The Big Deep’, on Victory Records.  The album is a major leap forward for the band, and lead singer Douglas Robinson couldn’t be more thrilled with the results.

“A lot of what makes The Big Deep different from our other releases is the fact that when we approached this record we approached it with no expectations other than wanting to improve ourselves, not only musically, but individually as well,” stated Robinson.  “We were all facing major changes in our lives and we wanted this record to be an in your face rock album that digs directly under your skin.  In my mind, The Big Deep is for everyone who has been through it all and still fighting to get it right.”

The band also found their writing for this record turning even more personal than they had in the past.  “Lyrically, songs like ‘Oh, Gloria’, which is about my mother, show how personal this record is for me. I’ve always been personal on all of our records while giving the listener a chance to relate. This time I did the same thing but dove into it far deeper. The last year and a half of my life is all on this record.  I want the listener to hear that, but also be able to connect with the material on its own.”

As always, The Sleeping will be hitting the road in support of their new album with upcoming shows with Finger Eleven, The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, Tides Of Man and PM Today. A full current tour schedule is listed below.
