EP Review: Madam Adam – Madam Adam

Earlier this year there was a buzz going around the internet after Roadrunner Records announced the signing of their latest band Madam Adam. While the band went straight into the studio as they worked on their Roadrunner debut, little was known about the band and who they were but the band is now ready to put their name into everyone’s mind with a debut four song EP.

I remember reading the press release with Ron Burman, Senior VP of A&R for Roadrunner, stating the band right catchy rock songs and they will stick in your head after just one listen and he was spot on.

Madam Adam EP ArtworkThe band performs modern hard rock with their blend capable of taking on many bands already in this genre with their EP. Thick driving bass lines accompanied with a great hard rock rhythm as they inject a little grunge influence behind the scenes which has a slight tone of Smile Empty Soul to it if you listen closely enough. The band complement one another very well, topped off with Scott Gould’s vocals, the band has got an incredible opportunity here to make a mark with the support of Roadrunner behind them.

The first song on the EP which is titled ‘Sex Ain’t Love’ made me think of Saving Abel’s song ‘The Sex Is Good’, just the titles mind you and funnily enough Madam Adam are working with the same producer in Skidd Mills. In my review of ‘Miss America’, the latest release for Saving Abel, I stated what I thought of the band in terms of who they could become if they limited some of the gimmick and attempt at the rock star image from their music as the album was extremely disappointing. Vocally and musically Saving Abel have the talent to go on to be a major force in the hard rock genre but their music needs to take a notch up if they are to have any real presence in the years to come. Already Madam Adam have that sound they should be searching for giving them an edge over other bands.

‘Madam Adam’ represents a young band with power and determination with talent in abundance to create a storm when they release their debut album ‘No Light, No Lock, No Grendel’ later this year; hard rock fans be prepared for their release.
