Single Review: Your Demise – Miles Away

In 2009 Your Demise burst onto the scene with their second full length album ‘Ignorance Never Dies’ and after being met with a positive response from critics, the band were preparing themselves for a bright future. Though only weeks after the release of the album, the bands vocalist, George Noble, left the band which almost left their dreams in pieces but within a fortnight Ed McRae took the mic and the bands future was back in their own hands.

Your Demise The Kids We Used To Be ArtworkWith a whirlwind 2009 and early 2010 which seen the band tour the UK, Europe and North America, Your Demise are back and are preparing for the release of their third studio album ‘The Kids We Used To Be…’

Recently I was sent the bands lead single, ‘Miles Away’, and it seems the band have grew into the men they want to be. ‘Miles Away’ is an high energy and action packed hardcore track with nothing left to waste as they band look to stamp their authority early. “Fuck the world” the band shout as they come out firing with a barrage of pounding drums, heavy hardcore riffs backed up with Ed McRae’s vicious vocals.

The press release supplied with the single states that the albums offers an addictive cocktail of hardcore, metal, punk, rock, pop-punk and pop but from this single, it’s safe to say that if Your Demise had wanted to created a hard-hitting and energy packed hardcore album that it would rank among some of the best hardcore albums of this year although I think it will take a special album to knock the latest release from Comeback Kid off that spot.

With several elements thrown into the cocktail, I and you can only hope the band have managed to mix it well as from the early sample here, Your Demise could be on course to release a great album.

You can also grab a new song, ‘Scared Of The Light’, for free at by simply sharing it with your friends.

Pre-order the band’s new album on iTunes or as a special bundle which includes the album, t-shirt and signed poster over at the Visible Noise shop.
